The 2006 MLB playoffs are underway. I am listening to the A's play the Twins right now - later tonight, I'll watch the Yankees take on the Tigers.
The A's are my "other" team, so I'll root for them to win their first post-season series in the Billy Beane era - they've been in four times, but have gone down in the first round, sometimes in spectacular fashion, all four times.
The Yankees are heavily favored to make short work of the Tigers, so that's another reason for me to root for the A's: I don't want the Yankees to have to face the Twins in the ALCS, with their Johan Santana and their sick bullpen, which has an ERA fully half a run better than any other team.
The A's have just scored two runs off of the amazing Santana, though, so the playoffs are off to an auspicious beginning. Play ball!
In other news, this is the 200th post here at GOAT. Thanks to you, the few, the loyal, the GOAT readership, for helping me feel like I'm not just talking to myself. And look for some fun changes to the GOAT landscape that I'll be rolling out soon.
